Just three weeks to go before Teagan turns ONE. The big question remains, will she be walking by then. In the last week she has become extremely mobile. I shot this two days ago and she is already better at toddling around just this morning. Not sure if we are ready for this...

January 20th, 2009

Dear Teagan,
Today was a day that will not soon be forgotten, Barack Obama was sworn in as the 44th president of the United States. For the first time since September 11th our country feels united - this time instead of fear bringing us together it's inspiration and optimism. You may not know this yet but someday you will appreciate the huge role you played in this election. I know you enjoyed watching hours of political coverage in the hospital because you would kick every time Wolf Blitzer talked. Perhaps it was because you were sick of him and CNN, but it's the only channel we had. You and I were not allowed to leave Sweedish hospital for the Washington caucus but we were able to live vicariously through Grams. I'll never forget the day you set off all of the alarms at the nurses station because you were so excited when Grams came back from the Obama rally at Key Arena. She charged in the room exclaiming "I think I'm in love!" and your heart rate soared off the charts! From canvasing the neighborhoods to marching in parades you were there. My little political sidekick! Someday your grandchildren will read about this time in history and you can tell them that you were there when our country was at a crossroads. The road will be long, but at least we are no longer lost. I love you my little Monk-a-lunk :)

Rest and relaxation

Taking advantage of our traveling privileges, grams's babysitting offer and lots of snow, Teagan and I took off to Idaho last week. My dad and I hit the slopes - finally after I two missed seasons, while T and my mom had some quality time together.

New Tricks

Will and I weren't sure who could take credit for teaching Teagan how to clap, then we realized it was the toy monkey with cymbals that I had been showing her a few days before that was probably her inspiration. We tried to get the monkey in the video - but for now she just wants to eat him. Pretty funny how much she is absorbing right not - even things we aren't aware of.

Teagan's army crawling days have finally come to an end. She started slithering around on her tummy on her 8-month-birthday and is finally crawling up on her knees (at 10 1/2 months)! I am so thrilled because this means she will stop trashing all of her clothes. Not that that matters, but it's pretty sick to see how dirty she gets from what we thought were our clean floors.
